CICU at Caucus Weekend 2025: A Powerful Celebration of Access, Equity, and Progress

CICU was honored to participate in the 2025 New York State Black, Puerto Rican, and Asian Legislative Caucus Weekend—an inspiring gathering focused on uniting communities and advancing New York’s future.

As part of this year’s events, CICU hosted a dynamic panel on Saturday morning highlighting the history and impact of the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP). The discussion featured powerful stories from HEOP alumni and insights from leaders dedicated to expanding access to higher education in the independent sector. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Assemblymember Alicia Hyndman for graciously hosting the panel, and to Senator Robert Jackson and Assemblymember Brian Cunningham for delivering meaningful remarks.

In addition to the panel, CICU also hosted a booth in the Legislative Office Building Concourse, where we distributed materials showcasing the incredible work of New York’s independent colleges and universities.

Caucus Weekend 2025 was a tremendous success, and we are proud to have been part of an event so deeply rooted in collaboration, equity, and progress. We’re already looking forward to an even bigger and better year in 2026!
