Tom Schnurr

Tom Schnurr is the Director of Government Affairs at the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities and the Executive Director of the Council of Governing Boards (CGB). CGB is CICU's sister organization which represents the trustees of CICU's member colleges and universities.

Prior to joining CICU, Tom was the Deputy Political Director at the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. As part of the Political Department he worked on consumer protection, worker-safety, and hospital patient safety legislation and initiatives. He also worked on various electoral campaigns in Queens and Brooklyn.

Tom was named as a 40 Under 40 Rising Star in New York City Politics in 2015 by City and State.

Tom is a Queens New York native and a graduate of Fordham University. He is a member of the Steering Committee for the Father Theodore T. Farley Scholarship at Fordham University.
