“The recently released results of Governor Cuomo’s audit of compliance with Education Law Article 129-B indicate that New York’s independent colleges and universities remain steadfastly committed to ensuring their students’ safety and well-being,” said Mary Beth Labate, president of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities.
“Our campuses across the state have been making good faith efforts to understand and implement the state statute on campus sexual assault. They also continue to work within the framework of the myriad other laws and guidance governing this area,” Labate said.
“New York’s private, not-for-profit colleges and universities welcome the opportunity for continued dialogue with state officials on this important subject. By working together we can continue to increase safety for all students,” Labate said.
“Ensuring that all students are safe, feel protected, and are treated justly while pursuing higher education remains a paramount concern of New York’s independent colleges and universities,” Labate said.
