Keuka College
Class of 2012
Early Childhood Education
Hometown: Campbell, NY
The economy is really affecting my family.
My mom doesn’t have a job right now, so that makes myfinancial aid all the more important. I definitely would not be attending Keuka,or any other private school like Keuka, if it were not for the TAP and New YorkState Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarships I received.
I heard about Keuka from a friend who was applying to Keukaand I applied, too. I decided on Keuka because it is a small, personal campusand I came from a small high school, so it just felt like home.
In high school, senior year, I was captain of the basketballteam, vice president of my class, yearbook co-editor, vice president ofNational Honor Society, and president of my youth group. I was class treasurerin 9th and 10th grades, and also participated in softball, academic all stars,Future Business Leaders of America, Teen Tutoring, and did some volunteer work.
I am focusing on my classes at Keuka and recently declaredmy major: early childhood education. I have wanted to be a teacher for a longtime. I would like to teach preschool or run my own day care—I just lovechildren.
To the great state of New York, I send my thanks for makingit possible for me to pursue my dream of working with children.
