The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (C-STEP) has proven to be one of most beneficial organizations on the Syracuse University campus. Not only has it provided me with many resources to maximize my undergraduate career, but it has also been an outlet for me to enhance my leadership skills. These leadership opportunities were provided through the Arise program, C-Step advisory board, workshops at the C-STEP Annual Conference, and community service.
C-STEP was one of the first organizations that I became involved with on the Syracuse University campus. The staff welcomed me with open arms and embraced me into the C-Step community. This tight knit community provided me with the opportunity to set realistic goals and achieve them to the best of my ability. Sessions with my counselor taught me the purpose of recording my objectives, and helped me to become a more goal oriented person. Through a number of workshops and C-Step sponsored events, I have learned invaluable lessons that were never taught in the classroom.
Moreover, this support system has assisted me in all of my academic accomplishments, and has directed me to the path that will ensure my academic success. I am very grateful that I did not have to travel on this journey alone, but was provided with a network of people who gladly expressed their desire to help students. Their investment in my future has inspired me to help others achieve their goals in life and encourage them to use every resource at their disposal. The family at C-STEP provided me with the encouragement and support that I need to continue to be a focused individual who is dedicated to improving my home, school, and community.
