Nazareth College of Rochester
Class of 2005
English/Quadruple Education Certification
Hometown: Irondequoit, NY
Going into college, I was aware that money was going to be tight. Both of my parents put themselves through college, and I knew I would have to do the same. My younger brother, Kiel, and I both attend Nazareth, and my sister will be a freshman in college next year. I rely on both academic scholarships, such as the New York State Award for Excellence, and financial aid to pay for school. Without TAP, attending college would be much more difficult.
Because I’m responsible for paying for college, I try to make the most of my experience there. I ride on the equestrian team, play cello in the orchestra, and sing in Call4Backup. I work at the Irondequoit Public Library on weekends to pay for my school commute. I am also part of the freshman English honor societies. Nazareth College has been wonderful for me. For financial reasons, I almost settled for a college that was not my first choice; however, financial help allowed me to attend Nazareth, a school that is perfect for me.
