Life is wonderful when you have the opportunity to make the best of it. I came from Haiti six years ago and I graduated from Roosevelt Junior Senior High School in 1998. After graduating I chose to attend college. Thanks to the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), I am a senior at New York Institute of Technology. Throughout my years at NYIT, HEOP has supported my financially and the HEOP staff has supported me emotionally. In particular I remember my sophomore year: I didn’t know what major to study and was considering dropping out. Fortunately HEOP staff mentors were there to help me make decisions about my life. I deeply appreciate their giving me the opportunity to become the responsible, successful person I am today. I am not the only student who has received help from HEOP and the staff. They are there for anyone who needs help and ready to assist students in achieving a better future. The HEOP program can make other students’ dreams come true if you give it a chance. It has helped to make my dreams come true. The HEOP staff has shown that they will assist students who are willing to work hard to succeed.
