ALBANY, N.Y. (March 14, 2024) – On Monday, March 11, the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities in New York (CICU) elected new members to its Board of Trustees at its 68th annual meeting.
The Board of Trustees for CICU is comprised of presidents of colleges and universities from every region of New York State and highlights the diversity of institution type and size within New York State’s Independent Sector of higher education.
The newly appointed members to the CICU Board of Trustees are:
- Toyin Tofade, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
- Cinnamon P. Carlarne, Albany Law School
- Tania Tetlow, Fordham University
- La Jerne Terry Cornish, Ithaca College
- Kimberly R. Cline, Long Island University
- Lynn Ortale, Maria College
- Susan L. Parish, Mercy University
- Henry C. Foley, New York Institute of Technology
- Marvin Krislov, Pace University
- Rupert A. Hayles, Jr., Roberts Wesleyan University
- Charles F. Seifert, Siena College
- Susan Burns, University of Mount Saint Vincent
“We are proud to have such a strong incoming class of trustees to lend their expertise, talent, and vision for ensuring higher education in New York State remains strong,” said Lola W. Brabham, President of CICU. “I look forward to the diversity of perspectives and wealth of experience they bring on higher education issues, including health care, educator preparation, workforce development, and social equity,” Brabham said. “Each president on CICU’s Board of Trustees is an invaluable voice that will help elevate and amplify CICU’s advocacy for the Independent Sector.”
CICU also named a new chair, David Harris, President of Union College. President Harris most recently served as Vice Chair and replaces Dr. David C. Munson Jr., President of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), who is term limited. “I want to thank President Munson for his tireless service as Chair and look forward to working with President Harris and the Board to ensure higher education is accessible to all who wish to pursue it,” said President Brabham.
“I am honored to be selected to Chair CICU’s Board of Trustees and I am thrilled to welcome this outstanding group of trustees,” said President Harris. He added, “They are leaders in higher education and their institutions shape our world through ideas that inspire, inform, and improve lives. I thank them for their commitment to the higher education community here in New York.”
