A Healthy Supply of Nursing Degrees in the Independent Sector

  • The demand for nurses will grow in the coming years, increasing by more than 25 percent over then next decade.[1]
  • Independent Sector colleges and universities produced more than half (55 percent; 8,399) of all nursing degrees awarded in New York State in 2015.[2]
  • In 2015, the Independent Sector awarded 51 percent more bachelor’s and 40 percent more graduate nursing degrees than were awarded by the sector in 2011.[3]
