Being connected
These past months have been trying for many areas of the world, as storms and other natural disasters unsettled so many lives. As just one example of how our campuses mobilized to help those in need, we welcomed nearly 1,000 students displaced by Hurricane Katrina this semester. Fortunately, these individuals are able to continue their higher education in New York until they can return to their original campuses.
Meanwhile, more and more students are choosing an independent college or university in New York, drawn to the opportunity for quality higher education. Recently, U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2006 named New York State home to the most “Top 100” colleges and universities, with 15 of our independent campuses ranking among the nation’s best. New York’s independent campuses have always offered individuals of all ages, colors, and economic brackets quality and value. Click on the links that follow to learn about other ways we’re reaching out: when our campuses buy locally, when they transfer technology that improves everyday life, or when they guide a prospective student through the financial aid process.
For nearly five decades, cIcu has touted the remarkable work of independent colleges and universities. As we prepare for our 50th anniversary in 2006, we look forward to celebrating higher education in New York State and all its connections to our communities.
